i saw several articles about WD (western digital) new 2TB hard drive called caviar green
it has 4 platters witch 500GB each 32MB cache 5400rpm (<-low speed = green = environmentally friendly)
Product information

The lowest price in (dutch) webshops is 212 ueros
The price is to expensive for me but Seagate also announced to introduce 2Tb drives in the near future

btw samsung also has release a >1TB drive

The name of the drive is Samsung F2 EcoGreen it has an capacity of 1,5TB
the lowest price is on this moment 120 in dutch webshops
Like the WD it aslos has 500GB platters (3x) , 32MB Cache , and 5400rpm

This drive rotation speed is also 5400 lower than the ''conventional'' 7200rpm speed
Both drive metioned in this thread are ''green''
I think the lower speed makes the drives consume less energy and make less noise as there 7200 counterparts

SSD are interesting but stil waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to expensive (GB/euro ratio) for me to get one
some related infomation about the 2TB sized ssd
Seagate plans SSD, 2TB hard drive for 2009

Yeah, SSD's are really expensive. Mostly because they are still very new to the market.
